About
Having been introduced to taxidermy at the early age of 13, I then became a graduate of Colorado Institute of Taxidermy Training in 1997. From there I went on to apprentice in a full time, high volume, production-based studio. I decided that was not the direction I wanted to go in the industry.
In 2004 with the help of my wife Jenni, we opened Big Cat Taxidermy. I wanted to operate a smaller, more custom taxidermy studio, with my concentration being on large predators but specializing in cats.
I have competed in several taxidermy competitions & conventions with great success. Learning from & being judged by some of the best in the industry has been great to build the artist I am today.
Some of my greatest knowledge & learning has been from being out hunting. I own & hunt my own hounds in the winter, which gives me the opportunity to watch & study true cat behavior & movements. I feel that gives me an upper hand on others in the industry.
I pride myself on recreating the most realistic & anatomically correct cat mount for our great clients. The quality & true beauty of our work goes into every great cat that leaves our studio.
About the Artist
I was introduced to taxidermy at the age of 13, sparking a lifelong passion for the craft. In 1997, I graduated from the Colorado Institute of Taxidermy Training and went on to apprentice in a high-volume, production-based studio. While that experience was valuable, I realized early on that my vision for taxidermy centered on quality and artistry rather than quantity.
In 2004, with the support of my wife Jenni, we founded Big Cat Taxidermy. My goal was to create a custom studio focused on precision, detail, and realism, with a specialization in large predators—particularly cats.
Over the years, I have competed in numerous taxidermy competitions and conventions, earning recognition while learning from and being judged by some of the most respected artists in the industry. These experiences have played a significant role in shaping my skills and artistic approach.
Much of my knowledge also comes from time spent in the field. For over 20 years, I hunted with and handled my own hounds, giving me the rare opportunity to closely observe and study the natural behavior and movement of big cats. This firsthand experience allows me to bring a higher level of authenticity and anatomical accuracy to my work.
I take great pride in recreating lifelike, anatomically correct mounts that reflect the true beauty of these animals. Every piece that leaves my studio represents a commitment to craftsmanship, realism, and respect for the subject.
